The inspiration behind this design came from a conversation between VC2 artist Vinnie Candelore and Taylor Dozier of The Children's Home of Pittsburgh. When asked to describe the organization, Taylor used three words: "Small But Scrappy."
Those words became the foundation for this painting.
The sparrow was chosen to represent that spirit. Small and often overlooked, sparrows are resourceful, adaptable, and persistent. They find ways to thrive in a world much bigger than themselves.
It's a reflection of The Children's Home of Pittsburgh, an organization making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families through determination, compassion, and community.
The original artwork was created during a collaborative VC2 Street Studio experience, inviting members of The Children's Home community to take part in the creative process.
