The inspiration behind this design came from a conversation between VC2 artist Vinnie Candelore and Taylor Dozier of The Children's Home of Pittsburgh. When asked to describe the organization, Taylor used three words: "Small But Scrappy."
Those words became the foundation for this painting.
The colorful sparrow represents something every child deserves to recognize in themselves: that being small doesn't mean being less capable.
Sparrows are resourceful, adaptable, and persistent. Despite their size, they find ways to thrive in a world much bigger than themselves.
The original painting was created during a collaborative VC2 Street Studio experience, bringing members of The Children's Home community together to contribute their own creativity to a shared work of art.
